As a sexologist and relationship therapist based in Amsterdam, I help individuals and couples unpack challenges surrounding sexual well-being, intimacy blocks, and relationship dynamics. Our sessions are collaborative, inclusive, and tailored to your unique needs. No matter your background, relationship structure, or identity, you will find an affirming space dedicated to honest discovery, healing, and meaningful connection.

Hi! My name is Lyra, I’m an expat sex and couples therapist in the Netherlands. My education to become a sexologist started when I first moved to Amsterdam. There, I attained my BSc in Psychology at the University of Amsterdam. Due to my passion and engagement in mental health and queer activism and sex positive spaces, I decided to specialize in clinical Psychosexology and moved to Italy. Where, besides eating a lot of good food and enjoying the sun, I completed my MSc in Clinical Psychosexology at Sapienza University in Rome. I have since worked and been able to gain valuable experience both in my private practice and at Praktijk de Liefde in Amsterdam. Though nowadays, I only work in my private practice.
In my work, I use elements of systemic therapy, trauma-informed methods, and mindfulness-based approaches with a client-focused perspective, using empirically supported methods to help each individual client, couple, or polycule in a way that works best for them. It’s important for me to draw from different schools of thought in therapy, as I do not believe in a “one size fits all”-approach.
I am LGBTQ+ , polamory, and kink educated and I work with a high sensitivity to culturally and/or sexually diverse backgrounds and interests. I speak English, German, and Dutch offer my services online and in-person, in my practice in Amsterdam.
Sexuality can be a difficult topic to talk about, which makes me deeply passionate about breaking those taboos and promoting sexual and relational well-being through open communication and authenticity.
